1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, phone, or tablet when you visit a website. They help the website work properly, remember your preferences, and provide us with information about how the site is used.

Cookies are not harmful. They cannot access other information on your device and they do not contain viruses.

This Cookie Policy explains which cookies our website at www.pfandco.co.uk uses, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.

2. How We Use Cookies

Our website uses cookies for the following purposes:

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)

These cookies are required for the website to function. Without them, the site would not work properly. You cannot opt out of essential cookies because they are necessary to provide you with the service you have requested.

Cookie / Storage Purpose Duration
cookie_consent Stores your cookie consent preference so we do not ask you again on every page 1 year
__vercel_live_token Vercel deployment — used during preview/staging deployments for authenticated access. Not present on the public production site. Session

Our website is built with React and hosted on Vercel. Unlike traditional server-rendered sites, single-page applications generally do not set server-side session cookies. The essential cookies listed above are the only ones strictly required for the site to operate.

3.2 Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website — for example, which pages are most popular and how people navigate between pages. This information helps us improve the website. The data collected is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors.

3.2.1 Google Analytics

Cookie Purpose Duration
_ga Google Analytics — distinguishes unique visitors by assigning a randomly generated number 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics 4 — maintains session state 2 years
_gid Google Analytics — distinguishes visitors over a 24-hour period 24 hours
_gat Google Analytics — throttles request rate to limit data collection on high-traffic sites 1 minute

3.2.2 Vercel Analytics

Our hosting provider (Vercel) offers a built-in analytics service. If enabled, Vercel Analytics is designed to be privacy-focused and does not use traditional cookies. It collects page view and performance data using a lightweight script without storing persistent identifiers on your device.

Note: The legal framework for cookie consent in the UK is subject to ongoing legislative reform. We monitor regulatory developments and will update this policy as required. Regardless of any future exemptions that may apply to simple analytics cookies, we believe in giving you a clear choice about whether these cookies are placed on your device. You can opt out at any time (see Section 5 below).

3.3 Payment Cookies (Stripe)

When you use our checkout pages to make a payment, our payment provider Stripe may set cookies on your device. These cookies are necessary for the payment process to function securely.

Cookie Purpose Duration
__stripe_mid Stripe fraud prevention — identifies your device to help detect fraudulent transactions 1 year
__stripe_sid Stripe session — maintains your payment session during the checkout process 30 minutes

Stripe cookies are only set when you navigate to a checkout or payment page. If you do not make a purchase, no Stripe cookies will be placed on your device. For more information, see the Stripe Privacy Policy.

3.4 Third-Party Cookies and Embedded Content

When we embed content from other services, those services may place their own cookies on your device. We do not control these cookies.

Service Purpose More Information
Google Maps When we embed location maps on our site, Google may set cookies to provide the mapping service Google Privacy Policy
ElevenLabs Conversational AI voice widget embedded on the site for customer interaction. May use local storage or session data to maintain the conversation state. ElevenLabs Privacy Policy

Third-party cookies are only set if you interact with the embedded content (for example, by using the voice widget or interacting with a map). If you do not interact with the embedded content, no third-party cookies will be set.

4. Cookie Consent

When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie banner that gives you the option to:

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the footer of our website.

Essential cookies cannot be disabled because they are necessary for the website to function.

6. Third-Party Cookies

We do not sell or share cookie data with third parties for advertising purposes. The third-party cookies described in this policy are set by service providers we use to operate our website (analytics, payments, embedded content). Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data collected through its cookies.

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. We do not currently respond to DNT signals, but we do respect the cookie preferences you set through our cookie consent banner.

7. Changes to This Policy
